For those who have called, texted, emailed, left comments, and been as outraged by the entire insurance and reimbursement process as me, please know I appreciate you. Thank you for reading along and sharing my frustration and discontent.
If perchance you have no clue what I’m talking about, read the following missives:
- Speak Up: I will not go quietly into the night
- Speak Up: The pen is mightier than the sword
- Speak Up: The ‘not it’ mentality
As I said before, I hope those who read this will know the fight can be worth it and for me, this time, it was.
A $10,000 refund doesn’t come along every day. Did any of the companies or insurance entities learn anything? Will any change happen to positively impact future patients? Was it worth it? I have no idea, but I hope so.
I’m going to rejoice in this moment, take a calming breath, and appreciate that the outcome was worth the effort.
I have nothing else to write today but to share that we got a full refund, money in hand.

Carolyn,
I have been quietly following along in your journey, crying at your lows and rejoicing in your highs!! I understand first hand the insurance frustration and it is horrific to say the least.
Thank you for openly sharing your journey, I’m sure you are helping many by doing so.
I am thrilled you’ve been traveling, it sounds like it’s really good for your soul!
Hugs Carolyn.
